The Owner of Oranges and Cream Motion Pictures, Jake Olivers, will make daily posts here to tell us about his life in the whirlwind we call Hollywood.

January 18, 2009:

Today has been another dull day in my life here at the studios. Awaiting a call from someone at Groovy Movies about TIKI, i found myself daydreaming in a far away land. I was standing right there, under the balcony where Juliet proclaims her love for Romeo in Shakespeare's masterpiece. I soon found myself lost within the colors and characters of TIKI and those in ROMEO AND JULIET. What would it be like if Bartholomew and Ungermeyer were this pair of star crossed lovers? What would the famous balcony scene look like in Phantom Alley, with freaks all around. How would Bartholomew's parents react to his affair? Would they be happy for him? Or would they think of it as a disgrace? Would they both find death at the end of their tale? And if so, how could I make their deaths match with their fate in TIKI? But, the main question in my head was like a storm cloud. How could I take this masterpiece written in England more than 500 years ago and turn it into something new but something that would respect the original play. Something with a freak-tiki twist but something normal and full of love. Something young and naive. How could I make this work as a film? As picked up my tattered copy of ROMEO AND JULIET and began reading this 'Tale of star-crossed lovers' it became clear of how I would do it. ~*~Jake~*~
